Lokua Kanza
Lokua recorded this album which includes many famous guests:
Jean-Luis Aubert (France), Terez Montcalm (Quebec), Tokiko Kato (Japan), Jean-Philippe Rykiel (France), Ray Lema (Zaire) and Ray St John (Great Britain) for a co-writing collaboration.
This second album is becoming an international objective for BMG.
The first single "Shadow Dancer," co-written with Ray St-John was sent out to radios throughout France and getting good airplay.
The album is available in France, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Quebec, Japan, Finland, Spain, Israel, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Ivory Coast, Australia, Philippines, and Hong Kong.
Lokua will be on tour in France and internationally including a rendez-vous at the Olympia in Paris. His new line-up includes piano, guitar, percussion, bass and 4 back-up singers.
"Wapi-Yo" has already received excellent reviews, as the Nouvel Observateur (an album which should receive worldwide success), or the Figaro (here we have a major artist, the glory could be on its way)...
Quebec, Japan and Spain have raved about Lokua as well. He recieved the 'African Folk Music Album Award," in Abidjan in 1995.
Lokua collaborated on the albums of: Youssou N'Dour - "Womat" Papa Wemba - (on Peter Gabriel's Label Real World) where he wrote and produced 5 songs. Angelique Kidjo - new record to be released Julia Sarr - her awaited first album He's been asked to write the score for a new French movie
Special Operations:
France-inter, one of France's major radio networks is proposing a partnership for the album and concert tours in France. Lokua graced the cover of The Bulletin, the main French professional musical magazine and an upcoming issue of Music & Media is including a single for the territories where the CD is released.
